An opportunity has arisen for a Health and Safety Officer to join us to take the lead in implementing and monitoring all aspects of health and safety within the Trafford College Group.

Taking the lead in ensuring that appropriate and safe systems of work are in place during any building projects including the redevelopment of the Stockport College campus, you will successfully promote a culture of safety awareness across the Group and plan and implement appropriate actions to ensure that there is a complete and accurate central record of risk assessments in place.

You must ensure all contractors undertake safe systems of work and comply with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and regulations while working on sites and lead on building safety requirements during the redevelopment project; developing effective, pro-active and positive relationships with building contractors to ensure the sites remain operational and safe whilst building works are being undertaken.

We are looking for someone with:

• A Diploma in Safety Management (NEBOSH or equivalent)

• Experience of working in Health and Safety management within a complex environment with a varied risk profile 

• Experience of taking a lead health and safety role during major building projects

• A strong background in developing and delivering Health & Safety training, inspection and auditing, accident investigation and undertaking Fire Risk Assessments

• Up to date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation

• Ability to communicate succinctly and act decisively in highly demanding situations.

• A working knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001
