Job overview

Health and Social Care and Early Years Curriculum Leader

This is an exceptional opportunity for a well-qualified teacher of Health and Social Care and Early Years to take their first steps into leadership and join a highly successful school. The post is 0.5 Health and Social Care and Early Years and 0.5 of another subject, preferably Science, but other subjects may be possible. It is a full time, permanent post.

This post replaces the current member of staff who has developed the Child Care and Health and Social courses to be very successful. With the advent of the new Early Years BTEC TEC qualification we need someone with the skills and experience to be able to develop this new course so that students can be highly successful.

The post holder will be line managed through Science which is a highly successful forward looking subject in its own right. Major responsibility is taken by the Faculty Leader supported by a Learning Leader at each Key Stage. The Science Department team currently consists of eight full time and two part time staff and in addition there is one full time and two part time Technicians. It is a very supportive faculty, with eight laboratories and a number of preparation rooms.

The Department has a successful Key Stage 3 curriculum and teaches both Combined Science and Separate Sciences at GCSE.

The ability to teach and lead developments in Health and Social Care, as well as Early Years, is vital for this role. The ability to be able to teach another subject means that this can become a full time post. Preferably the successful candidate will be able to teach Science up to at least Key Stage 3, but other subject combinations are possible.

This is a permanent full time post required from September.  Further details are attached and are also available on our website:

www.earlshighschool.org

The closing date for applications is 9am on Tuesday, 1st May.

The Earls High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

In common with all schools, the main reason to join our organisation is to make a difference to the lives of young people. Having said that, choosing the right school for the next stage in your career is a critical choice.

So why choose The Earls High School?

  • We are fortunate to have fantastic students who are keen to learn and ambitious in their plans for the future.
  • Staff wellbeing is at the forefront of our thinking.
  • We have a clear vision for learning at the school and have a well-developed training plan so that all teachers are able to research, learn and develop their practice.
