Job overview

We are looking to appoint an outstanding, creative and inspirational Health and Social Care Lead Practitioner, to contribute fully to the future development of our expanding department at the academy. You will have the ability to teach Health and Social Care to Key stage 4 and Key Stage 5 work collaboratively alongside the Subject Leader. 

If you can motivate students to achieve or exceed their target grades, have experience within the health and social care sector, and are driven to ensure students receive the best possible experience, then this job is for you. The Health and Social Care department is a highly successful one at Forge; a department that achieves outstanding results year on year.  

The successful candidate will:

  • Raise achievement through motivating, challenging and inspiring our students. 
  • Have a commitment to inclusion. 
  • Help foster a culture of high expectations and achievement within the department. 
  • Have enthusiasm, resilience, warmth and humour. 
  • Have a thorough understanding of routes into further education, higher education and employment for students undertaking health and social care qualifications. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Subject Leader for Health and Social Care to ensure coursework and students’ work is accurately assessed and moderated in a timely manner. 
  • Assist in maintaining robust quality assurance processes through regular assessment, verification and standardisation practices.  
  • Ensure teachers of Health and Social Care are clear about the teaching of objectives in lessons, understand the sequences of teaching and learning in the subject area and communicate this to students 
  • Observe colleagues’ teaching (through subject monitoring) and provide evaluative feedback on the effectiveness of their teaching strategies to bring about further improvement 
  • Support the Subject Leader in developing action plans designed to bring about improvements 
  • Work collaboratively with the Subject Leader to produce schemes of work and lesson plans 
  • Liaise with local providers to observe, support and monitoring work experience opportunities for students at Key Stage 5. 
  • Communicate effectively with parents, pastoral staff and the Academy safeguarding team  
  • Have opportunities to contribute to the wider life and ethos of the Academy 
  • Already possess or be working towards QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
