Smart Teachers is recruiting for a Health & Social Care Teacher to work part time in a hospital school in North London. This Health & Social Care Teacher role is for an ASAP start and will be a permanent, part time role. This is for 3 days per week. The children at this school are aged from 13-16 years old. This role is working with students who have mental health challenges, including severe depression, anxiety and those who are subject to self-harm. 

The role

• Health & Social Care teacher 

• Working with secondary aged students with mental health challenges 

• Part-time role, 3 days per week (5 days optional with 2nd vocational subject)

• Prior experience working in mental health is desirable 

• School hours are 8.30am to 4:30pm.  

• Most teaching will be on a 1:1 basis

• Permanent contracts only 


The school

• Hospital school working with children who have severe mental health challenges 

• All students who attend this school are secondary aged 

• The school is located in a leafy residential area of North London/Hertfordshire, with ample parking 

• There are good bus links, with access to an overground and underground station 

• Small team of supportive teachers, SLT and Health Care assistants 

• Learning takes place in bright, colourful spaces

• Access to outside space and access to pets on site. 



Requirements

To be considered for the English Teacher position, you will:

• Experience working with children or adults with mental health challenges  

• Relevant teaching qualification (must have QTS, may consider QTLS) 

• NQTs and/or OS-trained teachers are welcome to apply

• Have strong communication, literacy and numeracy skills

• Eligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa)

• Recent classroom-based references and valid DBS/police checks
