Job overview

We are looking for a committed, flexible and sociable person with administration and reception skills to be a part of the Health Centre team. This post is for a fixed-term period from 1 September 2022 to 12 July 2023 to cover a period of departmental review.

Experience & Background

You will need to be a reliable and capable individual who can use your own initiative, as well as work as part of a team. Experience in a similar role within a school environment would be beneficial. 

Duties

You will be responsible for:

  • Administration support for the Health Centre
  • Supporting the nursing team with reception duties 
  • Being the first point of contact for students arriving at the Health Centre
  • Welfare support to students requiring time out

This post is in Regulated Activity.

Hours of Work

This post is term time only plus an additional 6 weeks per annum non-term time. You will be required to work 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 08:30 hrs to 15:00 hrs, with a 30-minute break for lunch. These hours could be flexible – please enquire if interested.

Salary

£14,229 annual starting salary based on the above hours and weeks of work, which is pro-rata of the full-time equivalent salary of £23,103 per annum.

All staff have a key role to play in identifying concerns early and in providing help for children and are expected to act in accordance with the School’s Safeguarding & Child Protection Policies.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job candidates to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

Bedales School is an independent, co-educational, selective, day and boarding school for children aged 3-18. It is situated in Petersfield in Hampshire and there are 460 pupils on its roll. There are admission fees and scholarships and bursaries are available.

Bedales is a charitable trust and was founded in 1893 by J H Badley as a humane alternative to the authoritarian regimes of the late-Victorian public schools. Its founding ethos was, and still is, “Head, Hand and Heart.”
