Job overview

If you offer administration experience and are looking to develop your skills, this position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role supporting the wellbeing of staff and students at Emanuel School.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide first aid and emergency care and treatment as necessary to pupils and employees of the school. You will also assist the school nurse with the organisation and management of any COVID-19 related actions and provide medical cover at sport events.

An additional responsibility will be assisting with the administration of the medical department, such as updating medical records and accident reports.

Healthcare experience or first aid or medicine management qualifications are not essential. You will, however, be willing to achieve these qualifications whilst working in the role.

You will also need a confident approach in order to deal with medical issues and build effective relationships with pupils, parents and staff. An awareness of mental health and pastoral issues affecting children and young people is equally important.

Welcome to Emanuel. We are a fully co-ed school of over 1000 pupils, aged 10-18, with over 200 teaching and support staff colleagues.

We are an ambitious community. This summer, 87% of grades at GCSE were awarded 9-7, which is a lift of 37% across recent years. Our A Level A*-A percentage is 53%. This is 20% higher than in 2018 and the school is now recognised as one of the best for academic outcomes in the country. The recent ISI Inspection report noted that: “Pupils make excellent progress across the range of subjects and significant value is added to their academic outcomes.”

We are committed to developing all our major sports and value pupil participation as well as team and individual achievement. The school’s critical build plan will see a significant investment in our on and off-site sports facilities across the next 3-4 years. The same site plan will support the outstanding creative and performing arts teaching at the school, as the school’s plans for a large specialist science teaching block will also allow us to improve our facilities for music and drama, both areas of traditional strength. We were delighted that these areas were recognised in last year’s Independent School of the Year Awards when we won the award for our performing arts.

Beyond the classroom, we have a thriving partnerships programme, helping to develop our pupils at all ages as they participate in this work, and benefiting the local community, with over 1000 primary school children coming to use our site and work with our pupils each month. In 2021 we won the Independent School of the Year Award for our community outreach work.
