ACS International Schools are seeking a Science Teacher with a Biology specialism to work at our Cobham campus in Surrey, UK. The teacher will be required to teach High School Science to students of varying skills and ability, ages 16-18, following the IB/AP curricula.

Our diverse and inclusive student body is made up of 70 different nationalities. We offer boarding to over 100 Middle, Upper and High school students. All students have access to extensive co-curricular and enrichment programmes.


ACS Cobham’s 128 acre campus is 25 miles from central London, offering world class facilities. We have a sports centre with a 25m indoor pool, gym, tennis courts, 400m track, playing fields, floodlit astroturf pitch, dance studio, performing arts centre with a 500+ seat auditorium, IT hubs, science labs, interactive learning centre, art and music studios, just to name a few.

Knowledge, skills, and experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree/Bachelor of Education
  • A teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS/Teaching licence/certification or equivalent)
  • 2 or more years of post qualifying teaching experience to relevant age groups
  • Strong IT skills, preferably with Apple products
  • Demonstrates consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written
  • Significant experience and willingness to integrate technology to improve teaching and learning
  • Experience of teaching in an international school is desirable but not essential.


Accountabilities:

  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students in a safe learning environment, rooted in mutual respect
  • Plan and teach well-structured engaging lessons, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students
  • Promote student progress and outcomes, assess and provide feedback
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop teaching and learning resources for students at different levels
  • Promote a love of learning
  • Offer help to all students who need additional learning support, working with Resource teachers, including EAL and learning differences specialists, to support students with specific learning needs
  • Undertake training, keep up-to-date on requirements and work as an advisor in the Pastoral Care programme, overseeing the day-to-day wellbeing of students to identify any student issues, problem-solving with the pastoral care team as required, liaising with parents/carers 
  • Participate in the extra-curricular programme
  • Support with other duties to assist with the smooth running of the school.

ACS Cobham International School is a mixed, mainstream, all-through school with sixth form, for students aged 2-18. This independent school is located in Cobham, Surrey, and has approximately 1300 students enrolled.

ACS Cobham International School was founded in 1975 and is one of four ACS schools in England and Qatar. Boarding was added in 1988 and the school generally caters for expatriate families who have relocated to the UK.
