Gyeongnam International Foreign School is a small, co-educational K-12 International Baccalaureate school in Sacheon, South Korea. The school currently has approximately 120 students and will have 150 or more students in the coming school year. The school has full WASC accreditation and IB World School status.

With an attractive campus situated in a green, mountainous area in the southern tip of Korea, the school and country offer a diverse environment to work and live. GIFS provides an international education for the expatriate community living in Sacheon, Geoje Island, and the surrounding area. Sacheon and Geoje Island are the centers for Korea’s international aerospace and shipping industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for professional growth for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly qualified teacher of science to join a small but committed department and faculty.

The successful applicant will have:

  • a passion for teaching
  • a commitment to students’ success
  • qualified teaching status in his/her home country
  • at least two years’ experience teaching science to high school and/or middle school level
  • the ability to teach some PE and/or Mathematics to middle school is desirable but not essential

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary range 2,690,000 Won - 3,600,000 Won(Monthly)
  • Two year contract
  • Provided rent free apartment within five minute walk of the school
  • Round trip airfare allowance (3,500,000 Won)
  • Annual round-trip airfare allowance (1,500,000 Won) after the first two year contract and a round trip ticket every year after that
  • At least 1 million Korean won of professional development allowance for the first two year and 500,000 Won for every subsequent year. Additional PD is often provided for IBDP workshops and training.
  • Free school lunch provided during regular school days
  • 300,000 Won allowed for shipping of personal/teaching materials at start of contract
  • 250,000 Won allowed for Setting-In Allowance
  • Severance pay after one full calendar year of employment
  • Pension-pay calculated at around 1-additional base paycheck per year
  • Free tuition for employee’s children
  • Paid summer vacation
  • Paid national holidays per year 
  • Korean national medical insurance
  • 5 days paid sick leave per year
  • 5 days paid compassionate leave per year
  • Local visa expenses covered

Gyeongnam International Foreign School is a co-educational independent all-through school for students aged 4-18. It is based in Gyeongnam in the Republic of Korea.

The school has recently joined the community of International Baccalaureate World Schools and offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
