Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Gravel Hill is a friendly, one/two form entry school with 412 pupils (including nursery). Proud holders of Investors in People and Healthy School Award.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated HLTA in either KS1 or KS2 to work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, The applicant will be required to implement agreed work programmes with classes, individuals and groups across the school. He/she will plan teaching and learning intentions, evaluate and adjust such plans to foster attractive learning environments to ensure that pupils spend their school life in stimulating surroundings. Staff well-being is very important to us. HLTAs are given PPA planning time at home where possible and the school will support the right applicant to obtain QTS if required.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within the scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
