Quay View School is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join our Education team now! We are looking for versatile, resilient and committed Teaching Assistants, who can adapt their practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher, assisting the children with their work and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.

We are seeking experienced Teaching Assistants looking to take the next step in their careers or Higher Level Teaching Assistants to become part of the Quay View School Team based in Devon.

Some of the day to day duties would involve:

•   To provide support for learners, the teacher and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all, by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes, and to encourage learners to become independent, to provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of learners in all aspects of school life.

•   Within an agreed whole school framework teach classes that are clearly structured, interesting and motivating.

•   Assist teachers in the support, training, mentoring of other learning support assistants.

Knowledge & Skills

QCF Diploma Level 3 (NVQ3) in teaching and learning or equivalent internal and external recognised qualification is desirable.

Experience

At least 3 years’ experience in a related environment and have experience of supporting and supervising other staff

The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting in a classroom setting, have a Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) which is appropriate to the teaching and learning environment of learners and young adults, along with the following characteristics:

At Southern Peninsula Services, we offer bespoke placements for young people (boys and girls) aged 7 to 19 years who have complex needs including SEBD, ASD and other learning disabilities.

In liaison with the commissioning LA’s and parents, we are able to make clear decisions about the educational and care programmes that best meet the individual needs of the young person. Our programmes are also supported by on-site therapy services, where necessary.
