Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support teaching staff in the academic development and pastoral care of pupils from Nursery to Year 8, including those with SEND.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching colleagues to support pupils individually, in small groups and within whole-class settings. You will assist with lesson planning and preparation, contribute to assessment and record-keeping, and help promote the progress, wellbeing and safeguarding of all children.

A key aspect of the role will be delivering learning activities and teaching whole classes in accordance with teacher-set plans when required. You will also liaise effectively with parents and external professionals, attend meetings and training, and support the wider life of the school.

Hours: Term-time only (including INSET days), either:

• 7.5 hours per week: Monday 08:30-12:30 and Friday 08:30-12:00

• 7.75 hours per week: Thursday 08:15-12:30 and Friday 08:30-12:00

Salary:

• £4,350 per annum (7.5 hours/week)

• £4,495 per annum (7.75 hours/week)

Start date: As soon as possible

The annual salary is paid in twelve equal monthly instalments and includes statutory paid holiday entitlement, to be taken during school holidays.

About You

We are looking for someone who brings:

• A Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification, or equivalent

• Experience of working as an HLTA with primary-aged children

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both children and adults

• Strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise and complete tasks effectively

• Confidence in supporting and teaching individuals, groups and whole classes

• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Resilience and flexibility in managing a range of responsibilities

• A positive, proactive and solution-focused attitude

• A genuine love of and enthusiasm for the education of children

• A full, clean driving licence (highly desirable)
