Heartlands High School is a new mixed comprehensive 11-16 school that opened in September 2010. Popular and oversubscribed within the local community the school will take 1080 students when full with 25 places in a specialist Autism provision. Our recent Ofsted described the school as a “Leaders have been able to cultivate an ethos of focusing on the needs of individual pupils. Pupils irrespective of their starting points, receive a range of support. Many pupils make very good progress.’’ (Ofsted 2016)

We are looking for outstanding and talented HLTA for English who will influence the development of an outstanding Learning Support Department, and set up interventions to support students in Maths. This post will be line managed by the Learning Coordinator for Maths and Modern Foreign Languages, and will also involve working closely with the Learning Support Coordinator and team. There are excellent opportunities for professional development.

The successful candidates:

- supporting students with special educational needs, EMTAG and EAL, or who are disadvantaged, more able, looked after or underachieving to ensure their inclusion and progress in the classroom and school community 

- taking a leading role in managing and delivering English support to students

- assisting in the delivery of English

- delivering interventions to support the progress of students in the classroom and in before/after school enrichment and additional studies

- being a Key-worker for designated Education and Health Care Plan students involving parental and student support and liaison as well as contributing to Annual Reviews

- attending training meetings relevant to the Learning Support department to understand the specific needs and strategies for SEND students

- advising staff on general and specific issues around learning, especially in English

- contributing to the learning and motivation of all students

- building excellent relationships with students

Support and development:

At Heartlands, we use School IP to track and support training and ongoing CPD. Depending on your need and level of experience, you will be placed on a training pathway.

The CPD plan is released in September each year and includes a range of internal training sessions before and after school as well as on inset days.
