We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)  to join our dedicated team and contribute to the academic, therapeutic, and pastoral development of our pupils.

We are looking for someone who:

Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Is calm, resilient, and able to build strong relationships with young people

• Can lead by example and work collaboratively with colleagues

• Has experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN or SEMH setting

The successful candidate will:

Work closely with class teachers to raise pupil attainment and support high-quality teaching and learning.

Deliver targeted interventions and provide individual and group support to help pupils access the curriculum and succeed.

Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, self-esteem, and inclusion.

Lead study periods and cover lessons for absent staff as required.

Support the coordination and guidance of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).

Help prepare resources, support planning, and contribute to assessment and reporting.

Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.

Act as a form tutor when required and take part in duties and extracurricular activities.

Contribute to creating a nurturing, holistic, and student-centred school environment.

Uphold high expectations and act as a role model aligned with the school’s values and ethos.

Commit to safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusive practice at all times.

Orange Tree School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff are expected to share this commitment and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Whilst every effort has been taken to explain the duties and responsibilities of the post, certain individual tasks may not be identified.

Employees will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from a manager to undertake any task of a similar level that is not specified in the job description.
The postholder may be required to do other duties appropriate to the level of the role, as directed by the headteacher or line manager.
