Job overview

Do you have the energy, enthusiasm and creativity to help shape our KS2 nurture provision?

WELLSPRING Academy Trust:

At Wellspring Academy Trust we believe that every school is unique, because it has a unique history, it serves a unique community context and is full of unique individuals.  We value and celebrate the unique identities of our Academies.  We encourage them to innovate, create and develop their uniqueness because we want others to learn from them.  Excellence is about diversity, not conformity.  We do not believe that one size fits all.

Joseph Norton Academy:

At Joseph Norton we believe that every child deserves the best possible education to enable them to make good progress and achieve their full potential. We are a child-centred and values-driven. As a team, we want every child to leave us having developed a love of learning and the skills and self-confidence needed to help them succeed in post-school life. We aim to build partnerships with parents, carers and children that are based on honesty, trust and mutual respect with the purpose of supporting the academic, vocational, personal and emotional development of our pupils.

As an HLTA, you will have the unique opportunity to work as part of a specialist KS2 team, developing and delivering a holistic, nurturing curriculum with a specific focus on literacy and numeracy. Supported by the class teacher you will take responsibility for the academic and personal progress of a small cohort of pupils with an unrelenting focus on safety, enjoyment and pupil progress in its widest sense. You will inspire pupils through imaginative, topic based activities that promote a love of learning and make inventive use of our extensive school grounds.

We can offer amazing children; a fun, supportive, hardworking and dedicated team; effective and consistent school systems with supportive leadership; personalised professional development that enables you to reach your career aspirations; committed and challenging governors.

Part of Wellspring Multi Academy Trust, Joseph Norton Academy is the only special school in Kirklees catering for pupils in Key Stages 2-4 with severe and complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).

Joseph Norton Academy is the same as any other school in that we have high expectations of our pupils; build a secure and happy atmosphere in which pupils can learn effectively; and offer a broad range of subjects and qualifications, including GCSEs.  However, we are different to other schools in that we organise our pupils into nurture groups; structure our day and our curriculum to support pupils with SEMH difficulties; and employ specialist staff to support the special educational needs of our pupils.

More information about our school and our ways of working can be found on our school website at www.josephnorton.co.uk
