Job overview
This pastoral HLTA role will advance pupils’ engagement, regulation, learning and behaviour. It will include working with individual pupils and groups to support their regulation through individually identified strategies and to determine appropriate provision pathways for those who are unable to access the core curriculum. The successful candidate will work with the building leads, the wider pastoral and attendance teams. They will support pastorally across sites and work to engage our most disengaged cohort, which will involve home visits, home education and liaising with external providers. The successful candidate will develop pupils' social and emotional progress, and liaise closely with parents, carers and external agencies to find the best solutions, support and ways forward for our young people.
The activities involve planning, preparing and delivering support, approaches and interventions, as well as monitoring, assessing and the reporting on pupils’ behaviour alongside the social and regulation skills. Whilst the positive and effective outcome enables pupils to learn and achieve better, this HLTA role is a pastoral role rather than a teaching and learning role.
The position would be an excellent progression and development opportunity for someone already working as a student liaison officer (BSO/SLO), pastoral learning mentor or head of year, and other similar roles. A driver's licence is essential as the successful candidate will work across sites.
We welcome interested parties to book in for an informal chat and tour of the school.

We currently support and educate nearly 300 students and see the development of the whole child as our core purpose. Since opening in 2014, Aspire has expanded rapidly and strongly. We support and work with over 25 secondary schools across 5 Local Authorities.
Whilst we believe in supporting students to achieve their full potential, we also have the same belief for all our staff.
We aim for all students to leave school with the tools to be a successful, positive contributor to society, irrespective of their starting point when joining us. We accept our students may have faced many challenges to the point they join us and may continue to face challenges in their everyday lives. However, we are committed to supporting students in overcoming their barriers to learning and helping them to develop towards being valuable members of their community Post-16.
Aspire Academy achieves this by providing a varied education enabling them to leave equipped with the right qualifications, developed personal attributes and a good understanding of their community and how they impact on it.
