About Lakelands Academy
Lakelands Academy serves the expanding town of Ellesmere and a rural catchment area surrounded by the beautiful Shropshire landscape. The town and surrounding villages offer a huge variety of attractions, activities and experiences and benefit from good communication links with the West Midlands, Manchester, Liverpool and Chester.
We are a successful, popular and well-respected 11-16 academy with a unique ethos. Proud of our ‘family feel’, we believe that education is about much more than academic results; it is about embedding behaviour that is safe, smart, responsible and kind in order that our young people develop into well-rounded, confident individuals who are driven to make a positive contribution to society.
We believe that every child really does matter. Our aim is to provide an outstanding educational experience for all our young people and to ensure they are prepared for further education and the world of work. We combine this with outstanding pastoral care and exciting opportunities beyond the classroom to challenge and inspire our students to be the best possible version of themselves. We are determined to deliver excellence in all we do and have been consistently judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, who praised the ‘high ambitions for all pupils’ learning’ and our staff’s ‘good relationships with pupils’ (Ofsted, 2022).
We offer outstanding facilities. Having benefitted from nearly four million pounds of investment over recent years, we are able to provide learning and pastoral environments fit for the future, enabling our students to reap the benefits of enhanced curriculum provision as well as facilitating the support which complements their learning. We are a school designed to meet the diverse needs and aspirations of all our students.
Lifelong learning and high aspirations are at the heart of what we do. Lakelands staff enjoy a rich programme of high-quality professional development, where they can learn from each other, exchange innovative ideas, strengthen their practice and provide the very best support for our young people.
