NJC Grade 8 £24,313- £26,999 per annum

(Actual salary in the region £20, 521- £22,788)

Faringdon Community College is looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within the Attainment, Inclusion and Mentoring (AIM) team, alongside the Special Education Needs (SEN) Department and Pastoral Team.

The post holder would work alongside school colleagues to support school students that face various challenges, including mental health issues, behavioral difficulties and low self esteem.  The role also involves liaison with outside agencies and teaching staff as well as meeting with parents and external parties.  

This role may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups in addition to monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting on pupil’s achievement, progress and development.  

Key requirements for this role include:

• Experience working with young people;

• Good organisational and communication skills with self-motivation to work well alone, as well as part of a team;

• Excellent numeracy and literacy skills;

• Good IT skills;

• Resilience, empathy and sense of humour.

You should have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work flexibly, independently and seek out resources as required.  You should be able to demonstrate close working with both teaching and non-teaching staff.

Faringdon Community College opened under its current name in 2000, having previously been known as Tollington Secondary Modern School. Located in the town of Faringdon, Oxfordshire, the school provides a co-educational secondary education for students aged 11-18.

In 2012, the school became part of the Faringdon Academy of Schools, alongside seven others. The Faringdon Academy of Schools includes institutions at all stages of children’s education and allows providers in the local area to work more closely together.

Faringdon Community College provides for around 1,500 secondary and sixth-form students.
