Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Have knowledge of autism and understand how children with autism learn differently from their neurotypical peers.
• Adapt teaching to meet the diverse needs of children with ADHD, drawing on their understanding of autism.
• Demonstrate commitment, skills, and motivation in engaging learners with attention and communication delays.
• Use various supports, strategies, and specific programmes to support students with communication difficulties and sensory needs.
• Show dedication to continually improving provision through imaginative and differentiated lessons.
• Have experience in enhancing pupil progress and raising attainment levels.
• Be experienced in assessing and tracking pupil progress to ensure all learners are progressing.
• Possess the emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with young people with complex needs.
• Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities 
• Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the Academy’s policy and procedures 
• Support class teachers with maintaining good order and discipline among pupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment 
• Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment 
• Observe pupil performance and pass observations on to the class teacher and SLT 
• Supervise a class if the teacher is temporarily unavailable 
• Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the Academy 
• Reflecting on own practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectiveness 

Candidate requirement: 

Responsibilities:

• Proven track record of exceptional teaching performance.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Support teachers in classroom instruction and management.
• Offer guidance and aid to students.
• Aid in preparing instructional materials.
• Ensure a safe and organised learning atmosphere.
• Help implement personalised learning plans.
• Conduct tests and assessments.
• Contribute to lesson plans and instructional material development.
• Operate relevant equipment/ICT packages (e.g. word, excel, databases, spreadsheets, Internet) 
• Excellent numeracy skills  
• Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds 
• Ability to foster constructive relationships with and gain the confidence of young people, parents/carers and colleagues 
• Exceptional communication with all age groups and abilities, both oral and written 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently and as part of a team  
• Ability to maintain confidentiality 
• Ability to be proactive, flexible and adaptable 
• Willingness to undertake additional training 
• Willingness to support with offsite visits as well as staff and student meetings 

Desirable qualifications include: 

• Educated to a degree level 
• Current First Aid certificate 
• Up-to-date knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education, Safeguarding and GDPR compliance 
• Experience/knowledge of Bromcom or other similar school information systems 
• Hold an up to date fully enhanced DBS (must have before role commences)
