About the Role

At Brick Lane School, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to achieve more than they ever thought possible. We're looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team and play a key role in helping pupils develop the confidence, independence and life skills they need to succeed.

This is far more than a traditional HLTA role. Alongside supporting high-quality teaching and learning, you'll lead our Personal Development & Future Pathways programme, inspiring pupils to explore future careers, develop essential life skills and prepare for adulthood with confidence.

If you're passionate about helping young people realise their potential and want a role where you can genuinely change lives every day, we'd love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes, including providing classroom cover when required.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver meaningful interventions that support pupils' academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.

  • Work alongside teachers, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to implement personalised learning strategies and EHCP outcomes.

  • Create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued, safe and supported to succeed.

  • Lead the school's Personal Development & Future Pathways programme, delivering engaging lessons in Careers, Enterprise, Employability and Independent Living Skills.

  • Build relationships with local employers, colleges and community organisations to create meaningful work-related learning opportunities.

  • Coordinate enterprise projects, careers events, transition activities and whole-school initiatives that prepare pupils for life beyond school.

  • Develop pupils' confidence, resilience, independence and aspirations, equipping them with the skills they need for adulthood and future employment.

What you will bring

We are looking for someone caring, flexible and enthusiastic — someone who can inspire pupils, work collaboratively with colleagues and model the school’s values of patience, kindness and teamwork.

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).

  • Passionate about helping children and young people achieve their full potential.

  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs, learning, behaviour and emotional development.

  • Confident leading learning, delivering interventions and managing classes when required.

  • Creative, proactive and enthusiastic, with the ability to deliver engaging learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and external partners.

  • A genuine passion for inclusion, personal development and preparing young people for successful futures.

  • HLTA status (or equivalent experience), experience delivering careers education, employability, enterprise or independent living programmes, and experience working within an SEN or specialist education setting are highly desirable.

  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
