 KS 2 Higher Level Teaching Assistant Part Time 8.30 am- 2.20pm daily in term time.

 Required for the start of the Summer Term 2018 - with an opportunity to start earlier to ensure a smooth handover - an enthusiastic teaching assistant with a demonstrable interest in supporting pupils with specific learning difficulties. 

 Calder House is a coeducational preparatory day school whose pupils all have specific learning difficulties of a Dyslexic, Dyspraxic or Dyscalculic nature. We are rated OUTSTANDING by Ofsted in all categories and our subskills team have won the TES award for special needs initiative of 2016. Our expectation is that our pupils will return successfully to mainstream education within a short time frame and the successful applicant will share our positive attitude to achieving the best outcome for every one of our pupils. 

 Applicants will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and the ability to work successfully with an innovative and creative team. Our teaching approach is to investigate and address the reasons behind our pupils’ difficulties in the classroom, and the successful applicant will wish to broaden their knowledge and skill in this area. The appointee will work with small groups to address a variety of underlying difficulties with for example working memory, visual and spatial perception and tracking. They will be happy to accept guidance on the materials and approaches to be used and to share ideas from their own areas of expertise and experience.
