 Salary Grade Range: SO1 Points 29-31 

Actual Salary Range: £25,142 - £26,607 per annum  

Contractual Status: Permanent and Term time Only 

Hours: 35 hours per week 

Required for: January 2017  

The Headteacher and Governors at Newington Green Primary School would like to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for January 2017.  Higher Level Teaching Assistant with Spanish Specialism (2 days Spanish, 3 days general HTLA). 

The role of Higher Level Teaching Assistant will have a major impact on the quality of Teaching and Learning.  We are looking for someone who:

 1. Meets HLTA standards or equivalent qualification or experience.

 2. Holds relevant qualifications at a level equivalent to at least NVQ level 3. 

3. A minimum of two years’ experience of working with children (either paid or unpaid capacity) preferably in an education setting.

 4. Understanding of behaviour management strategies.

 5. Effective oral and written communication skills. 

6. Excellent interpersonal skills both in working relationship with young pupils and in forming effective professional relationships with a wide range of contacts. 

7. Good organisational and time management skills. 

8. Sound IT skills to support learning and maintain electronic information systems. 

9. Able to form and maintain appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with children and young people. 

10. Ability and willingness to work constructively as part of a team. 

11. Ability to supervise pupils effectively both in and out of school in line with the school’s behaviour policy. 

12. Ability to organise the classroom activities e.g. preparing and setting out resources.
