About the role

We are excited to be expanding our clinical service during a time of growth for the service. We currently have an opportunity for a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Clinical Wellbeing team. The post holder will work collaboratively to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our pupils. This is an excellent opportunity to join the team as they expand their clinical provision, making a real difference and implementing a holistic, therapeutic approach.

You will be responsible for holding a Speech and Language therapy caseload across Options Higford and Options Overton Schools, both based in the West Midlands. Working within an established and knowledgeable Multi-Disciplinary Clinical Team and with the support of Therapy Assistants, you will contribute to staff training, consultation and reflective practice. You will be supported by SaLT colleagues across the West Midlands as well as the wider clinical structure. This position would suit an innovative and enthusiastic clinician who is confident in their therapeutic approach and is seeking to work with young people across all levels of the clinical offer from specialist to universal.

 Essential Criteria:

  • Speech and Language Therapy degree. 
  • Registered with HCPC and RCSLT.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in SEN education, or with a similar caseload, as a Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Experience of managing a complex caseload.
  • Clear and concise report writing relating to clinical and research activities.
  • Full valid UK driving licence, access to a car and ability to drive extended distances across the Locality, when required, e.g., to attend meetings.
  • Ability to work independently as agreed under supervision.
  • Experience of multi-professional work teams or services within designated specialty

Our multi-disciplinary team approach offers a holistic service based on sound knowledge and understanding of autism and what works in supporting learning for people with Autism and additional needs. Our clinical team is based on-site and includes speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, psychology and nursing services. We offer a high ratio of staff to pupils, generally 1:1 support provided with a class of up to 5 students. All staff have comprehensive training, focusing on the specialist knowledge necessary to support the complex needs of our students.
