Wingate School is seeking to recruit an energetic, flexible and dedicated History Teacher with the ability to teach other Humanities subjects. The successful candidate would embrace the role at our unique school, delivering a balanced and relevant teaching programme based on the British National Curriculum at KS3 and Edexcel IGCSE History syllabus.

Wingate School was recognised in our recent BSO Inspection as being “good and often excellent” with students exceeding well beyond expectations.

We are looking for a candidate to take this key role, one who has the ability to show initiative in delivering the curriculum and be part of a dynamic team who would continue our progress towards becoming an ‘Outstanding’ school.

The successful candidate would be expected to:

  • Utilise and further develop schemes of work in line with new curriculum and syllabus objectives
  • Organise learning resources and the classroom learning environment
  • Develop and foster the appropriate skills and social abilities to enable the optimum development of children according to age, ability and aptitude
  • Assess and record progress
  • Challenge and inspire pupils to deepen their knowledge and understanding
  • Work in a team of experienced teachers to develop and advance the new Humanities Department at Wingate School
  • Be a year group tutor

About Wingate School

Founded in 1982 by Chris and Margaret Green and initially only had seven students.

Wingate School is a British International school in Arona, Tenerife, Spain. Achieving a rating of "Outstanding" by PENTA inspectors in 2023.

Teaching from Foundation to Sixth Form with approximately 400 students in attendance.

With a multi-cultural community, with over 20 different nationalities and a maximum of 24 children per class.

BTEC is in place to commence in September 2023

The school promotes strong family values. It aims to foster independent, self-reliant learners who have a strong sense of self. They want to prepare students to work hard to achieve their full potential and to encourage them to make positive contributions to society.

Wingate School follows the UK National Curriculum with added Spanish Studies.  External examinations are IGCSE and A level exams with exam board Pearson -Edexcel

Extra-curriculars are also given an important role in the curriculum.

P.E as well as other sports are encouraged, external speakers and excursions are planned to supplement the students’ academic learning.

Activities such as drama and fundraising activities are also available.
