The Department:
The History Department is a large and popular department which is delivering good results for our children. We consistently have 150 to 200 students opting for GCSE History and are currently the most popular option subject, so the ability to teach GCSE is essential.
We currently run the AQA GCSE History Course, teaching: Elizabeth I 1568-1603, Britain: Medicine 1000-Present Day; Germany 1890-1945 and the Cold War; Conflict in Asia. At A Level we also deliver the AQA specification, teaching: Modern Britain 1950-2007; Russia 1682-1796. The ability and willingness to teach A Level would be highly desirable.
Consisting of five full time specialists, we are a supportive and innovative team. We pride ourselves on being a committed team who work collaboratively to provide the best possible opportunities for our students. We welcome applications from team players who are prepared to go the extra mile.
The Candidate:
We are looking for a candidate who is not afraid of hard work, whose aim it is to become an outstanding classroom practitioner and who can demonstrate their practical commitment to achieving their aim; a candidate with new, dynamic ideas who can help the department move from Good to Outstanding.
Applications welcome from experienced History teachers with a track record of teaching consistently good and outstanding lessons and achieving strong Progress 8 scores, or from potential NQTs who are making encouraging progress in their training.

Fortis Academy is sponsored by Shaw Education Trust. We are based in north Birmingham and have a large, diverse and vibrant community of students. We have a well-established and very successful Sixth Form.
