Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified teacher of History (and possibly Human Geography) to join the exceptional international team of our History-Geography department in Paris in September 2018.

The successful applicant will be a native level English speaker with a passion for education and for History, committed to attaining ambitious learning goals for able students in a student-centred environment.

The post is full time and involves the 11-18 age range. The school offers two leaving examinations: the IB and the international option of the French baccalaureate. History and Geography leaving examinations are in English in both tracks. IB experience is a plus, but not a necessity for someone eager to grow and committed to CPD.

A further TLR opportunity exists to participate in the school’s university guidance programme, including HAT and Oxbridge interview preparation.

Ecole Jeannine Manuel is a non-profit co-educational bilingual French-international day school for 3-18-year olds in the heart of Paris. We are an IB World School also accredited by the French Ministry of Education, by CIS and by NEASC. Our school has been ranked first among French lycées (state and independent) for the past five years and sends more graduates to Oxbridge and Russell group universities in the UK, and to Ivy League colleges in the US, than any other school in France.

Interviews will take place on Thursday March 1st and Friday March 2nd at Ecole Jeannine Manuel London at the following address :

Ecole Jeannine Manuel UK

43-45 Bedford Square, Fitzrovia, London WC1B 3DN

About École Jeannine Manuel

Jeannine Manuel founded the Ecole Jeannine Manuel in 1954 with the mission to develop international understanding through bilingual education starting in the nursery years. Her premise was that “learning a foreign language is, by itself, important; it is also a means to better understand others, to be able to think like them—it provides access to the world.”

An associated UNESCO school, Ecole Jeannine Manuel is also contractually part of the French national education system. The high school prepares students for the French Baccalaureate, the French Baccalaureate with Option Internationale, or the International Baccalaureate. An official testing site for the SAT, Ecole Jeannine Manuel is also accredited by the College Entrance Examination Board and the Cambridge University Local Examination Syndicate.

Since its founding, fifty years ago, Ecole Jeannine Manuel has become the largest non-denominational independent school in France, with 2,900 students in Paris and Lille representing over sixty-five nationalities. The school’s academic excellence matches its diversity: Ecole Jeannine Manuel is regularly ranked among the top five of all 121 Paris high schools (public and independent) for its overall academic performance. Today, all over the world, wherever they live, study or work, fifteen thousand alumni bear witness to the excellence of the education they received, as well as to a spirit of openness and flexibility forged at Ecole Jeannine Manuel.
