Job overview

Angel Meadow School is an independent special school for pupils aged 11–16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), opening in 2026 in Salford.

The school is designed as a small, high-support setting for pupils with a range of needs including ADHD, autism, dyslexia and moderate learning difficulties, alongside SEMH. As part of the Angel Meadow School Group, and alongside our established provision Ace Education Manchester, you will be joining a setting with a clear vision and strong foundations.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with teachers to deliver high-quality, personalised education.

In this small specialist setting, you will work with very small groups of pupils and, where appropriate, lead targeted sessions and interventions.

You will:

  • Support the delivery of lessons across KS3 and KS4

  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning

  • Lead targeted interventions and structured learning activities

  • Support pupils with engagement, behaviour and emotional regulation

  • Help maintain a calm, consistent and structured classroom environment

  • Work closely with teachers to adapt resources and personalise learning

  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils

  • Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and routine

  • Contribute to EHCP targets and review processes

  • Support wider school routines and expectations

Why Join From Day One

  • Be part of the founding team of a new specialist school

  • Help shape routines, systems and expectations from the start

  • Small classes – maximum of 5 pupils

  • High levels of staff support and collaboration

  • Clear opportunities for progression as the school grows

  • A calm, structured environment with a strong focus on relationships

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs

  • Is calm, consistent and confident in their approach

  • Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils

  • Is proactive and able to take initiative in supporting learning

  • Is comfortable working across a range of subjects

HLTA experience is desirable, but strong candidates with relevant experience will be considered.

Additional Responsibility Opportunity

As the school grows, there will be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, including leading interventions, supporting curriculum delivery or mentoring other support staff.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to be part of a new and growing specialist school

  • Very small class sizes

  • A supportive, close-knit team

  • Tailored CPD in SEND, SEMH and small-group teaching

  • Reduced administrative burden compared to larger settings

  • Clear progression opportunities as the school develops

Safeguarding

Angel Meadow School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks, satisfactory references and safer recruitment procedures.
