Job overview

Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-19, inner city multicultural school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London.  We have outstanding facilities including a specialist SEND centre. In February 2013 OfSTED stated we were ‘outstanding in all aspects’.

We are proud of our SEND department at LBTS. We have a team which includes 9 Learning Mentors, who work both in class and also deliver 1 to 1 mentoring and small group literacy intervention, as well as 3 HLTAs who run a highly praised intervention curriculum for literacy and numeracy.

We cater for over 40 students with an EHCP, as well as numerous other SEND needs and we are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled new member to support our growing team. You would be the assistant to the SENDCo in leading and developing Lilian Baylis Technology School’s Special Educational Needs (SEND) provision, in order to raise attainment and achievement of students with SEND. You would also play an integral role in promoting a culture of inclusion and positive support to ensure all staff are equipped with the knowledge and expertise to encourage all students to thrive.

Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, you will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from a line manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.

This post is subject to the current conditions of employment contained in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document, the 1998 School Standards and Framework Act, the required standards for Qualified Teacher Status and Class Teachers and other current legislation.

The school is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and it expects staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The post holder may reasonably be expected to undertake other duties commensurate with the level of responsibility that may be allocated from time to time.
