Job overview

Are you committed to making a difference in a rapidly improving school? If so, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated HLTA to join us!

Our higher level teaching assistants are fulfilled by the idea of making even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things. You’ll be there to help children learn, develop their abilities and raise their self-esteem. You will need to be resilient and dedicated, but those small victories that you achieve will be something you’re really proud of.

Co-op Academy Portland is a part of the Co-op Academies Trust. Our academy has a strong team and bright, happy children in our one-form entry school and we require a highly motivated candidate who will bring experience, energy, initiative and a nurturing approach to our children with a likely focus in our SEN base, working with our pupils who have higher needs.

Our core co-operative values define us. Every member of staff in our academy follows our ‘Ways of Being’;

  • Do what matters most
  • Be yourself, always
  • Show you care
  • Succeed together

The Co-operative Academies Trust has a fantastic benefits package including discount gym memberships, childcare vouchers, healthcare packages and co-operative discount offers as well as a local government pension scheme.

If you feel you have the passion and drive and are committed to our vision of excellence, then we look forward to receiving your application.

Visits to the academy are encouraged. Please email port-schooloffice@coopacademies.co.uk or phone 0151 652 5124 to book your place with the school office team.

Interview timetable:

The recruitment panel will agree a short-list of candidates who will be invited to an interview week commencing 15th July 2024.

Co-op Academies Trust as an aware employer is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults as its number one priority. This commitment to robust recruitment, selection and induction procedures extends to organisations and services linked to the Trust on its behalf. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We value variety and individual differences, and aim to create a culture, environment and practices at all levels which encompass acceptance, respect and inclusion. Co-op Academies Trust is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage or civil partnerships. All our colleagues are expected to demonstrate a commitment to co-operative values and principles.
