Vision & Ethos

Darlington Education Village is very much a pioneering partnership, in that as well as Springfield, Beaumont Hill and  Haughton schools working together; we also work with a range of partners that include other local schools, the Local Authority, Health, Police and local community. In the Village we aim to provide a safe, happy, caring and well-ordered environment within which every child can thrive. Students will be valued both as individuals and as part of the wider Village community. The Government white paper Every Child Matters and the subsequent Children’s Act 2004 established five key outcomes for children, which we in school aim to support:

Be healthy
Stay Safe
Enjoy and Achieve
Make a positive contribution
Achieve economic well-being

We aim to:

Provide a nurturing and friendly atmosphere by providing an environment where students are respected and valued and where individual needs are recognised and supported.

Bring out the best in every child irrespective of any learning difficulties they may have and regardless of their gender, race, colour or religious beliefs.

Provide for each child as many different experiences, ideas and activities as possible in a safe and secure environment.

Help your child care about family, friends, neighbours and their surroundings.

Support your child in leading an independent and purposeful life, preparing children for work or further education and promoting citizenship to encourage them to consider the needs of their local and wider community.

Offer a broad and balanced curriculum modified to meet individual needs where appropriate.

Create an atmosphere which encourages teamwork and values the contribution of all partners in the context of a shared acceptance and understanding of the Village’s direction.

Motivate staff by strong leadership which offers direction and democratic management.
