Working at Mount St. Mary’s College in any capacity is a privilege. It is a special community with a proud history and a bright future, where staff and pupils work hard to achieve success and rewards. Honest, hardworking teachers with the ability to consistently engage and inspire young people are our most precious resource.

The School enjoys an outstanding reputation for its pastoral care. The whole School community is seen as an extended family and all relationships are modelled on that. Particular care is organised for our Year 7 students through the Homeroom Teacher, ensuring smooth integration into the wider senior school, from Barlborough Hall School and other primary schools.

Ensuring the happiness and welfare of every individual is of paramount importance. Pupils are guided, supported and protected with great sensitivity and care appropriate to their age, which means they can confidently get on with the business of developing their talents and achieving success in a safe environment.

This is a great opportunity for the right individual to be part of a vibrant co-educational boarding and day school in the Jesuit tradition, catering for the needs of children aged 11 -18 from all denominations in a truly ecumenical and happy environment. Applications are invited from both newly qualified and experienced teachers. There will be a requirement to contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the College.

Mount St Mary’s College is an HMC independent day and boarding school for boys and girls, including A-Level studies. Our Preparatory School, Barlborough Hall is a day school and includes a Nursery provision. Following our most recent ISI inspection in October 2023, it was noted 'EYFS is effectively managed and the individual needs and abilities of the children are met in all areas of development.'

We are a special community with a proud history and a bright future, located in rural Derbyshire near Sheffield and Chesterfield. We offer 250 acres of picturesque grounds and a blend of traditional and modern facilities.

The recent ISI Inspection at Mount St Mary's College found that 'pupils feel safe in school' and there is a 'culture of vigilance which promotes the safeguarding and welfare of pupils.'

We were founded by the Jesuits in 1842 and we build on our Jesuit roots by teaching our students to be grateful and to be generous. We are a school where everyone is learning because everyone is growing.
