Overview:

The Mathematics Coordinator in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a key position responsible for developing and overseeing the mathematics curriculum, ensuring its alignment with PYP principles. This individual collaborates with the PYP Coordinator and other subject coordinators to create a comprehensive and engaging mathematics program for students. Additionally, the Mathematics Coordinator will lead the preparation and participation of PYP students in Math Olympiads, both at the local and international levels.

Responsibilities:

1.Homeroom Teaching

2.Curriculum Development:

   - Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Mathematics curriculum in accordance with PYP guidelines.

   - Collaborate with teachers to design hands-on and inquiry-based mathematics activities.

3.Teacher Support and Development:

   - Provide guidance and support to Mathematics teachers in implementing the PYP framework.

   - Organize professional development opportunities to enhance teachers' skills in mathematics instruction.

4. Assessment and Evaluation:

   - Design and implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate students' mathematical proficiency.

   - Analyze assessment data to inform instructional improvements and interventions.

5. Math Olympiads Leadership:

   - Take the lead in preparing and organizing PYP students for local and international Math Olympiads.

   - Develop enrichment programs and activities to nurture students' mathematical talent and problem-solving skills.

6. Integration with Other Subjects:

   - Collaborate with other subject coordinators to ensure cross-curricular connections, fostering interdisciplinary learning.

   - Identify opportunities to integrate mathematics concepts into other subject areas.

7. Resource Management:

   - Manage and allocate resources efficiently to support the Mathematics curriculum and Math Olympiads preparation.

   - Identify and recommend relevant educational resources and materials.

8. Parental Engagement:

   - Facilitate communication with parents regarding the Mathematics program, student progress, and strategies for supporting mathematical development at home.

   - Organize events or workshops to involve parents in their child's mathematical education.

9. Continuous Improvement:

   - Stay abreast of current trends, research, and best practices in mathematics education.

   - Lead initiatives for continuous improvement in the Mathematics program.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.

- PYP training and certification is highly desirable.

- Previous teaching experience in Mathematics in a PYP setting.

- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Position Working Days/hours: 

Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00
