Job overview
House Parent
from September 2017
Highfield (Lower School boarding house - Years 7 and 8, boys and girls.)
A co-educational HMC boarding and day school for 11-18 years Haileybury seeks an enthusiastic and energetic resident House Parent for Highfield, the Lower School boarding house. Highfield comprises both a boys’ and girls’ wing, and has a resident matron and two resident tutors. The House Parent will be responsible for c. 25 boarders and flexi boarders, line-managing the Highfield tutorial team and developing the evening and weekend activity programmes. As Haileybury looks to expand its Lower School boarding, the House Parent will also have responsibility for liaising with feeder prep schools and developing new links, with the aim of filling the boarding house in the coming years, to its capacity of 48 boarders (24 girls and 24 boys.) The successful candidate will offer good managerial and administrative skills, be a warm and friendly role model to the pupils (helping to create a homely atmosphere for many first-time boarders) and have the ability to liaise with current and prospective parents, and Prep School Heads. They will also oversee pastoral and disciplinary matters within the House. This may be a teaching or non-teaching role. The vast majority of our teaching staff live on site in College provided accommodation.
