Downside is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 11 to 18, and one of England’s oldest and most distinguished Catholic schools. The school is situated at the foot of the Mendip Hills, twelve miles south of the city of Bath.
We have an of opportunity to join us within one of our boys boarding houses, to assist with the supervision and pastoral care of the boarding pupils at the School. Are you a discreet and confidential team player with the ability to work on your own initiative and sometimes under pressure? We are looking for someone who embraces and appreciates the ethos of a Benedictine boarding school.
There is a particular responsibility for the clothing, health (in conjunction with the Health Centre) and general well-being of those within each House. It is essential that the House Parent is seen by the pupils in the House as an approachable, helpful and sympathetic person.
Salary is £8.00 per hour and your working hours are 1.15pm – 6.00pm Tuesday to Friday, plus every Saturday 8am – 6pm with half an hour break. This is a Term Time only position. We welcome applications from candidates looking to work these hours (28.5) during the School term-time which is 34 weeks a year.
