Job type:
Full Time, Permanent
Start date:

Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Housemaster to join the thriving Boarding House of Aldro for September 2019. This is an exciting time to assume leadership of this important aspect of Aldro life as the school looks to develop its strategic plan, in which boarding is expected to play an integral part and the successful candidate a significant role. In this document, the term “Housemaster” is used, but the job description applies equally to a male or a female applicant and could also apply to a couple operating jointly as houseparents.

The Housemaster will work alongside a committed and experienced team of matrons and will be responsible to the Assistant Head Pastoral for all matters related to the Boarding House.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sympathy with the ethos of Aldro, which is centred on our Christian foundation, the highest standards of pastoral care and the education of the “whole child”. Aldro aims to provide the highest academic standards whilst providing the boys with a full programme of extra-curricular activity, founded on a strong Christian ethos, and giving them a full appreciation of moral and ethical values.

Closing Date: 10 am Friday 22  March 2019

Interviews: Tuesday 26 March 2019

Aldro is committed to equality opportunity to all staff. All candidates are encouraged to ensure that the school is aware of their requirements should they be invited for an interview.

Aldro is a co-educational boarding and day school for approximately 230 children aged 7 and 13.

Nestled in the quintessentially English and very beautiful village of Shackleford, Aldro lies just 30 miles southwest of London and is in easy reach of both Heathrow and Gatwick airports.  With our full, weekly and family-friendly boarding, Aldro welcomes children from all around the world, as well as those looking for an idyllic country education away from the capital and many who join us daily from the towns and villages surrounding our stunning rural location in the home county of Surrey.

At Aldro, we are proud of our long history and proven success in preparing young people to attend leading independent senior schools, yet despite our heritage and traditions, our aim is to offer a modern, progressive and innovative curriculum that will prepare both girls and boys for their personal and professional lives beyond school.
