Due to the promotion of the present incumbent to a Housemistress role at Cheltenham Ladies’ College, Belhaven Hill School is seeking to appoint a Housemistress to oversee all aspects of the running of the girls’ boarding house, which accommodates up to 45 full-boarding girls from ages 8-13.
This is an opportunity for a well-qualified, enthusiastic and motivated teacher to continue the outstanding work which has been instrumental in making Belhaven Hill the top boarding prep school in Scotland.
Belhaven Hill School provides boys and girls aged 7-13 with the best possible prep education. Just 30 miles east of Edinburgh, the school is set in 25 acres of walled grounds and sits directly on the beautiful East Lothian coastline. Belhaven has an enviable academic record, winning 17 awards last year. All pupils and staff also take part in a wide and varied range of extra-curricular activities.
There are currently 123 pupils, of whom two-thirds are full boarders; the school operates as a boarding School first and foremost although there are 40 day pupils too, predominantly at the lower end of the school. Two separate houses, one for the girls and one the boys, provide a warm and caring full-boarding environment, with boarders and staff enjoying an Exeat from Friday lunchtime until Sunday evening every other week.
A job description including personal qualities for this role is available to download. An application form is available on the school website or from the School secretary (on firstname.lastname@example.org). It must be completed in full and sent - along with a short hand-written letter to the Headmaster - to the school secretary, Mrs. Alex Farquhar, Belhaven Hill School, Belhaven Road, Dunbar, East Lothian EH42 1NN.
