We wish to appoint a residential Housemistress to join our excellent pastoral team and to manage and develop one of our two girls’ boarding houses. St George is a modern, purpose-built boarding house which opened in September 2012 and can accommodate up to 68 girls aged 13 to 18, about 35 of whom board.
The Housemistress is responsible at all times for the safety, welfare and development of the pupils in the House. The role is supported by an Assistant Housemistress, a team of pastoral and academic tutors and a Day Matron.
The successful candidate will have proven people management and administration skills to ensure that the House provides development, structure and motivation to enable the girls and house staff to achieve collectively and individually. As a member of the Housemasters’ and Housemistresses’ Committee, you will play a major part in the pastoral management of the College. The College plans to grow over the next five years and the Housemistress will play a key role in recruiting more girls to the College.
This is also a teaching position (reduced timetable). You will be an experienced teacher in your subject and any academic discipline relevant to our curriculum will be considered. You will hold a relevant degree and ideally a teaching qualification along with the desire and dedication to ensure high standards of pupil progression and attainment. We welcome applications from candidates in either the state or independent sectors with experience of boarding.
We offer excellent working conditions set in beautiful grounds. Our salary package, which includes family accommodation, will recognise your experience, qualifications and commitment. The successful applicant will be expected to be involved in co-curricular activities and play a full part in the busy life of this boarding school.
