Job overview

Job Title: Houseparent (Girls’ Boarding)

Location: Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School

Contract Type: Full-time, permanent

Salary: Competitive, in line with skills & experience + accommodation

Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School is situated in a spectacular rural location in the Lune Valley, an ideal place for living out the ethos of allowing children to be children. We strive to realise the potential in all of our pupils, from the classroom to the stage, or to the sports pitch.

At this exciting time in the School’s development, we are now seeking an exceptional individual to take up the hugely rewarding role of Houseparent for Girls’ Boarding from September 2022.

Boarding numbers have remained strong in recent years; the strength of the boarding community and the impact that it has upon the rest of the Prep School is profound, and the Houseparent for Girls’ Boarding will play a large part in its continued success.

Our ideal candidate will be friendly, approachable, dedicated and adaptable, with a passion for pastoral care and a commitment to the ethos of modern boarding. Key to the role will be high levels of emotional intelligence, stamina, and the ability to deal with both parents and pupils sympathetically and with empathy. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding communication skills at all levels of the organisation, with the ability to both lead and work seamlessly within a wider team.

For this high-profile and influential post, the School is committed to finding the very highest calibre of candidate and would therefore welcome applications from a variety of different applicants. As such, the role may represent an exciting opportunity for a primary or secondary specialist teacher who is looking to combine teaching and pastoral duties, or equally an unqualified but pastorally gifted and experienced individual, who would focus on this aspect of the post without teaching responsibility.

Accommodation will be available with the position.
