Houseparents   (Accommodation provided) 

 The Dragon seeks to appoint Houseparents to run a Year 7 and 8 Boys Boarding House, one of ten boarding houses at the school.  This is a rare opportunity for the successful candidates to run a house at the school and support the pupils’ academic, social and emotional wellbeing. The right candidates will also have the opportunity to teach alongside their Houseparent roles.     

The Dragon School was founded in 1877 to educate the sons of dons.  From these modest beginnings the School has grown to be an internationally renowned independent day and boarding preparatory school for over 600 boys and girls aged 8 to 13.  In September 1995 the School (which has charitable status) opened a pre-prep called Lynams on the Woodstock Road for about 200 more children aged 4 to 7.    

The Dragon was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in November 2014 and was found to be “Excellent” in all areas of teaching and pastoral care and “Exceptional” with regard to “The Quality of Pupils’ Achievements and Learning”.   

The staff of over 300 full and part time individuals includes 120 teachers, 35 visiting music and learning support teachers, 30 teaching assistants, 35 pastoral staff and 90 support and administrative staff.  A further range of individuals provide sports coaching and specialist services on a contract basis.
