Job overview

Malvern College Switzerland (MCS) opened its doors to pupils in September 2021. The newest up-and-running member of the Malvern College International Family, MCS joins a proud tradition with over 150 years of educational excellence and innovation to draw upon.

MCS is situated in Leysin, in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The campus is well appointed, and the school benefits from being at the heart of a village which has positioned itself as a hub for international education. MCS offers a British curriculum (English NC, IGCSEs and A-levels) to pupils aged 11-18. Most pupils at MCS board and so prospective candidates will need to enthusiastically embrace life in a residential community of learners.

Though a significant portion of this role will involve providing pastoral oversight in the boarding house, the successful applicant will have the flexibility and experience to teach their subject - with a very high degree of proficiency - at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. The ability to offer another subject in addition will be a significant advantage, as will experience of teaching pupils whose first language is not English.

All MCS teachers are expected to play a full role in the school’s curricular, co-curricular and pastoral programmes.

Interested applicants should read the Candidate Application Pack closely. Here candidates will find a job description for teaching posts as well as more detailed information about the school.

Contract Type: Full time

Start date: January 2023 (or sooner of possible)

Closing date: Interviews will be on a rolling basis and as such early applications are encouraged.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview via video call. Candidates may be contacted at any stage after submitting their applications.

Malvern College Switzerland exists to provide a quality all-round education for its pupils and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Candidates must be prepared to undergo child protection screening and appropriate pre-employment checks. Please note that we will need to take up the references provided in your application form prior to your interview. In line with all schools in the MCI group, we require three references to be submitted.

Please contact hr@malverncollege.ch for any queries about this role. Note that a CV will not be accepted in place of the TES's online application form.

About Malvern College Switzerland

Malvern College Switzerland is the youngest active member of the Malvern Family and operates from a majestic location in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The school opened its doors in September 2021, and is a full boarding school catering for pupils from 11-18 years old. The curriculum is based on the British system with pupils sitting IGCSEs and A-levels.

The MCS campus is generously proportioned and well resourced. The facilities on the campus itself are supplemented by those found in the village of Leysin.

MCS works closely with Malvern College in the UK, where the Malvern College International team is based. Sharing the ethos of our mother school, we create a nurturing learning environment and place equal emphasis on stretching pupils’ potential and building character. In short, the educational experience for pupils at MCS extends far beyond the structured curricular timetable. A full range of co-curricular activities, including sports and the arts, and a programme of trips and expeditions has rapidly developed as we have found our feet as a school.

MCS promises to be an exciting place to live and to learn. We would love to hear from prospective applicants who are excited about the opportunity of working in a new school.
