Job overview

The People Services Team (HR) at Leigh Academies Trust is expanding and we have a fantastic opportunity to appoint an HR Administrator who will work specifically within our Learning & Development Team (L&D). This is a brand new role within our People Services Team, and it’s a chance to join an L&D function at its early stages (we’ll be a small team of 3 to begin with!)

As this role is offered as an apprenticeship, we don’t require our successful candidate to have any prior experience in HR or L&D, rather we are looking to appoint someone who is a real people-person, strives to go over and above to help people and is keen to learn a range of new skills.  We’re hiring for the right attitude - this is so important to us. You’ll work towards completing a nationally recognised qualification In Learning and Development, Level 3. Click here to read more about the apprenticeship programme. For this role, the off-the-job training is delivered online (there is no requirement to attend day or block release at a different location).

The team’s overall purpose is to ensure that all staff have access to and receive the necessary training and development opportunities that ensure they can perform their role to the best of their abilities, and can meet the changing needs of the education sector.  We already have a number of training and development opportunities in place at LAT which are delivered by our partner organisations, but now we need to bring them all together and make them easily accessible to 3,000 staff members.

The range of tasks our L&D Administrator will be doing on a day-to-day basis will be varied; you’ll be helping to schedule events one minute and running reports on the completion of online courses the next. You’ll work with accuracy and professionalism, but not be afraid to ask for help.

The role is based at Leigh Academies Trust Head Office in Strood, Rochester. LAT has adopted a hybrid approach for Head Office staff with 4 days being based in the office and one day working from home - the day from home for this role is a Monday.  The working basis of the role is 37 hours per week throughout the full year; Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm (with an early finish of 4.00pm on Fridays and during school holidays).

Our successful candidate will receive;

  • A starting salary of £12,500 per annum whilst on the 18-month apprenticeship programme, increasing to a minimum of £19,788 thereafter
  • 25 days annual leave per annum plus bank holidays, which increases to 30 days with length of service
  • Further career development and training opportunities to suit your needs and career objectives
  • A full range of benefits, available to all LAT employees (click here to view)

Please note that all applications must be submitted electronically via our e-recruitment system; we cannot accept CVs or speculative emails outside of this system.

About Leigh Academies Trust

Leigh Academies Trust is one of the country’s largest and most-established multi-academy trusts operating across four ‘clusters’: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London and Medway.

The Trust was formed in 2008 with the linking of the Leigh Technology Academy and Longfield Academy under one governing body. As of 1st April 2024, our Trust comprises 32 geographically organised academies (16 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. It contains primary, secondary and special academies and is highly inclusive and successful. Our mission is to deliver “education for a better world” by ensuring that young people in our academies have an excellent start in life regardless of their background or ability.

We are a non-profit making charitable company, based in Strood, Medway. The Trust exists to support and assist schools to build upon their existing strengths and to help them achieve rapid educational transformation. It has significant experience in running schools, and today includes both sponsored academies and schools which have chosen to convert to academy status.

In addition to providing high-quality educational opportunities for all of our children, aged from 2 months to 19 years, and their families, we are proud to provide many opportunities for lifelong learning.  These are delivered through the organisations under our umbrella: Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub, LAT Apprenticeships and Kent and Medway Training (KMT), which delivers routes into teaching. Our future plans are found in our Vision 2030 document available on our website.
