Welcome to Wellington College

Nestled in 400 acres of stunning Berkshire countryside, just 35 miles from London, Wellington College is more than a school - it is a vibrant community where tradition meets innovation and every pupil is empowered to shape a better world.

Blending heritage with cutting-edge education, Wellington equips pupils with the skills, character and confidence to thrive. Our dynamic curriculum, tech-enhanced classrooms and pupil -centred learning keep us at the forefront of modern education.

Rooted in our core values - Kindness, Courage, Respect, Integrity and Responsibility - Wellington offers outstanding academics, exceptional arts and sports and award-winning pastoral care. With 18 houses and a new Sixth Form Centre, our wellbeing programmes and mental health initiatives prepare students for happy, successful lives beyond school.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed not just to educate, but to ignite curiosity, foster independence and prepare pupils to thrive in a rapidly-changing world.

Pupils explore a broad mix of subjects - languages, humanities, arts and core disciplines - all underpinned by Wellington’s unique Wellbeing programme. In Third Form, students explore two languages, two humanities and three electives, alongside Maths, English, Science and Classics. The Malim Prize is a rite of passage for all third formers, a creative research challenge that celebrates independent thinking.

In Middle School, pupils tailor their GCSEs from a wide range of options, with most taking nine or ten subjects. They also study either the HPQ or our bespoke Fragments course, alongside regular Wellbeing sessions.

In Sixth Form, students choose between A Levels and the International Baccalaureate, both offering rigorous, globally-respected pathways. With top exam results and strong university placements - including Oxbridge, Ivy League and other elite global institutions - Wellington prepares pupils not just for exams, but for life.

Facilities

From our cutting-edge Sixth Form Centre to the immersive Mandarin hub and our 900-seat theatre, every space at Wellington is built to inspire. Our extensive indoor and outdoor facilities include a 9-hole golf course, purpose-built co-educational Sixth Form house, and the iconic Grimshaw Art School.

Academic Excellence

Academic excellence at Wellington opens doors to the world’s top universities - and more importantly, equips pupils with the mindset to make a difference wherever they go.

In 2025, over 42% of GCSE grades were 9s, and almost 70% were 9s or 8s. At Sixth Form, almost half of pupils achieved top grades at A Level or IB, with over 40 students earning at least three A*s or Higher Level 7s. Over the past five years, 100 pupils have secured Oxbridge offers, while 20–25 head to top US universities annually.

Arts

Wellington College is a global leader in the Arts. Whether on stage, behind the camera, or in the studio, pupils are encouraged to express, explore and excel.

With the 900-seat G.W. Annenberg Auditorium, the intimate Christopher Lee Theatre, five other performance spaces, two music buildings, a dance studio, recording suite, TV and radio studios, creativity thrives at every turn.

Music is everywhere, with weekly recitals, major concerts, chapel services and choirs performing at venues like St Paul’s Cathedral as well as touring internationally. Drama dazzles with student-led productions, masterclasses and standout shows. Dance is dynamic and inclusive, with over 750 pupils auditioning for House Dance and 110 performing in the Christmas show.

Sport

Wellington champions every athlete with expert coaching and world-class facilities.

With over 25 sports, 200 teams and 1,500 fixtures each year, Wellington is a powerhouse of both participation and elite performance. More than 30 pupils have competed at national level, with over 20 teams or individuals reaching national finals in the last 5 years. Each year, a number of pupils leave Wellington with professional contracts or US scholarships in rugby, hockey and golf.

Facilities include new tennis and netball courts, a third astroturf, a renovated cricket pavilion, indoor golf swing room and a versatile gym for everything from high-performance training to yoga

Pastoral Care

Every pupil belongs. Our award-winning pastoral care ensures that Wellington feels like home and is an environment where wellbeing, resilience and emotional intelligence are nurtured every day.

House life is central and every pupil feels their house is the best. With dedicated Housemasters and Housemistresses, tutors, matrons and housekeepers, each house is a true home away from home. We lead the way in safeguarding, mental health initiatives and our Wellbeing curriculum.

Co-Curricular Life

From racing electric cars to debating global issues, our co-curricular programme helps pupils discover passions, build skills and make an impact beyond the classroom.
