Job overview

Due to recent developments, and in order to fulfil our growth plan, we are looking to appoint additional CIPD qualified HR Advisors to join our central HR team in order to provide a seamless advisory service to all academies within the Trust.

The Trust is a large multi academy trust currently comprising of 43 academies, including secondary, primary, a through school (ages 3-18), a Free School, Alternative Provision and a Pupil Referral Unit. We are set to increase the number of academies within the Trust over the coming months and the central HR team will manage this process along with continuing to support our existing academies.

You will help to support, develop and manage our most important asset – our people. The successful candidates will establish credibility and build solid, effective relationships with Principals and Senior Leaders as well as being proactive in putting forward ideas to continually improve the organisation and performance of the department. You will need to have strong knowledge and experience as a HR generalist as you will be responsible for advising and supporting Senior Managers on policy and procedure. You will be able to confidently manage a variety of casework including disciplinary, capability, sickness absence, as well as managing change within the academies. There will also be opportunity to deliver training on both a one to one basis within the academies as well as to groups from our Head Office.

A degree and C.I.P.D qualification to a minimum of Level 5, or equivalent and demonstrable experience, is essential for this role. The Trust welcomes applications from experienced and highly skilled professionals from both the education and commercial sector. For the right person, consideration will be given to part time hours and for the post to be reduced from all year round to term time only plus an additional 20 working days. If you wish to be considered for part time hours please indicate your preference on the application form.

You will be based at our Head Office in Knottingley, however the nature of the role requires regular travel to the Trust’s Academies so it essential for the successful candidate to be able to drive and have the use of a car for business use.

Delta Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to appointment.

Delta Academies Trust is an exempt charity with its values drawn from the public sector and Directors appointed on a voluntary basis. We are one of the largest multi academy trusts in the North of England with a passion and drive to improve the education experience for all pupils and students regardless of where they live.

Delta operates as a single multi-academy sponsor and in that capacity is one employer across all the Academies which it sponsors.

Delta has a proven track record, as well as the educational expertise, capacity and experience to secure transformational change and sustainable academy improvement in the schools which it supports through sponsorship. It is currently responsible for the leadership and governance of a number of academies including infant, primary, secondary and free schools.

With a predecessor educational trust history going back to 2004, Delta, has an impressive record in school improvement and has established an organisation which provides a 21st Century model for collaboration within the public sector and is a ‘not for profit’ organisation with public accountability.

Due to the size of the Trust and the locations of our academies/schools, we're really well placed to offer all kinds of varied career paths. So, whether you're looking for the challenge of a new role, want to learn new skills, try a new location, or progress to bigger opportunities, we'd love to talk to you.

We provide the support and opportunities you may need to develop and its up to you to make the most of these, but we’ll help you with lots of learning opportunities, both informal and formal, designed to help you develop inside of work – and outside too.

Working for us is all about passion, and we have lots of people who are really passionate about what they do – teaching assistants, IT technicians, teachers, caterers, leaders and curriculum experts. We love it when our people get creative, muck in and have fun. Of course, we look for people who love learning, helping others to grow and care about the students and communities we serve.

We encourage all of the people who work for us to take ownership and do everything necessary to create a standout experience for our students.

Ask our people what they get up to day to day and they’ll all tell you how much they enjoy the variety, pace, and challenge of working in one of our academies, schools or Head Office. This flexibility isn’t just part of our working day – we understand that our people have lives, and want them to also enjoy their friends, family, hobbies and commitments outside of work.

Our academies offer safe and secure surroundings and the pleasure of working with great people. Working with our students and communities is pretty interesting too and you’ll play an essential role adding to their experience of education and also of Delta Academies Trust.

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. We make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to the Trust by being a member of the Disability Confident scheme. This helps us to recruit and retain high quality, skills and hard working people from a wider talent pool.
