We’re seeking a passionate and dedicated HR Advisor to join our team at Co-op Academy Leeds. You'll provide a high-quality operational HR service in line with the academy's priorities and our distinctive Co-op values.

Working closely with the Principal, and wider leadership team, you’ll be the first point of contact for all local HR matters including absence management, employee relations, supporting wellbeing and recruitment. You’ll be supported by the Regional HR Manager, be responsible for the academy’s HR Administrator, and form part of the larger HR network across our Trust.

You’ll bring previous experience of providing pragmatic, creative and commercially focused solutions across the full employee life cycle. Successful candidates will have gravitas; feel comfortable to challenge (and be challenged!). It’s essential that you are CIPD qualified (or equivalent) or working towards qualified status, with up-to-date understanding of employment law and HR good practice.  Whilst HR experience or knowledge gained within an education / school or Local Authority setting is desirable, applicants who can demonstrate an ability and appetite to develop their knowledge in this sector are welcomed.

As well as possessing the right skills and experience, we’ll need you to have bags of enthusiasm and the ability to build strong working relationships, and influence others.

You’ll join a talented staff team and a successful partnership of schools which is committed to raising the educational ambitions of the communities it serves.

What you do here really counts and we offer a range of benefits to recognise the part you play in our success. We want you to stay happy and healthy, so in addition to a competitive salary, we offer membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and a full range of other benefits including 24/7 wellbeing support from Bupa and Co-op discounts.

Primarily based on-site during term-time, you will be a visible and professional presence in our academy.  In support of a healthy work-life balance, there are increased opportunities to work more flexibly and from home occasionally during school holiday/closure periods.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. Co-op Academies Trust is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage or civil partnerships.

Co-op Academy Leeds is a ‘Good’ school (Ofsted, Nov 2022) and on the back of our recent successes we’re fully committed to getting even better.

Here at Co-op Academy Leeds, we aim to ensure everyone has the opportunity to flourish, both academically and socially.  We expect students and staff to have the courage to aim high, the commitment to persevere – even when the going gets tough – and the mindset which will allow them to grow.

Teaching and learning sit right at the heart of everything we do – nothing else matters if the learning culture is not good enough.  We focus relentlessly on ensuring staff receive regular, relevant and useful professional development, much of which is provided and delivered by our in-house Teaching & Learning Team.  Anyone who joins us is expected to contribute to this sharing culture.

We have high expectations – and unstinting moral values.  As an integral part of Co-op Academies Trust, we espouse the core Co-op values (Self-help, Self-responsibility, Solidarity, Democracy, Equity and Equality) and have adopted the 4 Ways of Being Co-op: Be yourself, always; Do what matters most; Show you care; Succeed together.

We also enjoy the significant support of the Trust and the Sponsor, which brings with it a range of opportunities and benefits, alongside a less “formal” package of colleagues working together to look after their well-being and forge stronger relationships.

We really are all about providing the best we can for everyone – making sure our students leave here and move on to better things, whatever their starting points and backgrounds.
