Job overview

The HR Co-ordinator will be the first point of contact for many HR related queries and will support the Head of HR and HR Assistant. The role holder will be responsible for a range of HR tasks such as, recording and managing staff absence, updating HR information systems, Safer Recruitment checks, maintaining the DBS register, HR administration such as referencing, monitoring employee training and updating records, assisting with recruitment administration and co-ordination, and correspondence, drafting offer letters, appointment letters and contracts, announcement emails, flexible working agreements, etc.

The role holder will be also support the Administrative Office with general administrative duties, including, handling internal and external enquiries by telephone and electronic mail, updating SIMS with changes to pupils’ details; processing pupil joiners and leavers; placing stationery orders, raising purchase orders, mailings, and providing cover for the Receptionist as necessary. 

The successful candidate will have superb organisational skills and a keen eye for detail.  This role could suit a recent Human Resources Management or Business Administration graduate or an HR Administrator with several years’ previous experience, or an Administrative Assistant with superb organisational skills and a keen eye for detail who is looking to expand into HR.

This role will require substantial contact with colleagues, pupils, pupils’ parents and suppliers. Professionalism, courtesy and clear written and spoken communication skills are therefore of great importance to us.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to work supportively with other staff, as well as independently, maintain absolute confidentiality in all relevant aspects of the work, and be comfortable working in a busy, reactive environment, juggling several different tasks at once, prioritising as appropriate, and yet remaining calm throughout.

Working hours:  

  • This is a full-time, year-round role.  
  • The working hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, inclusive of lunchtime.  
  • The post holder is entitled to Administrative Team holidays, which are 34 days per annum plus, bank holidays.  
  • Annual leave must be taken during School holidays with agreement of the line manager.

The Harrodian School is a mixed, non-denominational all-through independent day school situated in Barnes, South West London. The Harrodian School was founded by Lady Eliana and Sir Alford Houston-Boswell and opened in 1993. The school’s original intake of 65 students has expanded to over 900 students from the ages of 4-18.
