We are passionate about recruiting, developing and retaining high quality professionals who excel in the delivery of secondary education and support services and our HR Manager is absolutely key in supporting this objective. The role plays a significant part in the school and as a result we are looking for a dedicated, passionate, innovative yet highly pragmatic HR professional to take the reins, and develop the HR agenda for 2020 and beyond.
Reporting to the Director of Business Management, whilst working closely alongside the Headteacher and management teams, you will deliver best practice and be highly motivated to use your knowledge, insight and skill to stay one step ahead.
As HR Manager you will have to wear many hats, from the strategic to the hands-on, managing the operational day-to-day demands (recruitment campaigns, payroll and employee relations etc).
You will lead, manage and be responsible for all activity that is required for the effective operation of all Human Resource Management functions at Tewkesbury School. You will provide professional skills and technical capabilities, specialist subject knowledge (including employment legislation) and integrity in decision making.
You will thrive in a busy environment and enjoy the challenge of complex situations, thinking laterally and creatively to bring about workable solutions. Working alongside a passionate, committed and experienced team, you will also use your collaborative working style and ability to build strong working relationships to deliver exceptional service and give professional HR advice.

About Tewkesbury Academy
Tewkesbury Academy is an exciting place to learn and work, with a student body of over 1,200 and upwards of 150 colleagues. We serve the distinctive town of Tewkesbury and surrounding villages, with its renowned historical, musical and ecological festivals each year. Tewkesbury Academy’s last inspection was under the predecessor school in Autumn 2022 – published January 2023 – where the Academy was designated to ‘Requires Improvement’. A year later, and there has been rapid improvement in the key areas of SEND, early reading and behaviour. The staff and leadership teams are engaged in a relentless drive for the Academy to regain Good and then move beyond that to be the great school this community deserves.
