The Vacancy

Are you a HR professional seeking the next challenge in your career? Would you like to be part of a transformational team at one of the top schools for progress in the country?

We are a large and high performing school that has a relentless focus on high standards in all that we do. We work together to dismantle any barriers to learning and achievement and have a total belief that every student can be successful regardless of their starting point. We are also the lead school for United Teaching National SCITT and a designated Teaching School Hub.

We are looking to recruit a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and highly capable HR Officer to join our Business Support Team and provide an outstanding HR service in our school. The HR Officer will be line managed by the School Business Manager.

The successful candidate will be passionate about education, resilient, solution focused and have excellent interpersonal skills.

Experience of school HR operations is preferred but not essential as training and guidance will be provided. However, the person appointed should have CIPD qualification or alternative recognised qualification in HR.

We offer a strong culture of professional development, a fantastic business support team, and the opportunity to be part of an outstanding school that is community driven and takes pride in our environment.

Paddington Academy is part of United Learning, one of the leading school groups in the country.

Paddington Academy is a mixed Academy for 1,200 students aged 11-18. The Academy was judged to be outstanding by OFSTED in 2011 and was described by the Education Minister as a ‘jewel in the crown of state education’.

Our thriving and oversubscribed academy also has a large Sixth Form with over 300 students, and we have consistently been in the top 10 schools for student progress for the last six years.

Why work at Paddington Academy?

We are a highly successful school, rated ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED with GCSE results which consistently place us in the top 1% of schools in the UK for student progress.

We are renowned for positive relationships between staff and students and serve a community of aspirational students.

We have been awarded a PLATINUM award for professional development. Our approach to CPD is personalised to ensure that every member of our community is provided with first class development opportunities.

We are the lead teacher training school for United Learning. Every staff member is a learner, and we secure opportunities for staff to coach and mentor as a reciprocal learning experience.

We invest in the long-term career aspirations of our staff and offer development and progression opportunities in school and across United Learning Trust.

Staff wellbeing is important to us, and we believe in cherishing our staff. A benefit of belonging to United Learning is access to a comprehensive rewards and benefits package.

Paddington Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Please note that the academy reserves the right to appoint at any stage during the recruitment process.

United Learning

We are part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are open to discussing flexible working options.
