Essential Criteria

The person appointed will:

  • Be a qualified teacher, meeting the standard for accreditation with NESA.
  • Have demonstrated competence in teaching HSIE and English.
  • Be supportive of the Catholic ethos of the College.
  • Be familiar with the NSW History, Geography and English syllabuses.
  • Have effective classroom management techniques and practices.
  • Have sound oral and written communication skills.
  • Have good rapport with students and staff.
  • Be prepared to undertake professional development.
  • Be academically qualified in HSIE and English methods.
  • Comply with current Child Protection Legislation.
  • Comply with the current Bishop's Commission for Catholic Schools - Framework for the Accreditation of Staff in Catholic Schools - Category B.


Desirable Criteria

  • Have capacity to teach in other subject areas.
  • Be able to contribute to extra-curricular activities.

St Mary’s College Gunnedah is a mixed, non-selective, independent Roman Catholic secondary school in Australia, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Gunnedah, New South Wales, has approximately 400 students on record.
