Job overview
We wish to appoint a Hub Coordinator to promote, organise and lead a range of opportunities for our underachieving, disaffected and vulnerable students. The role focuses on raising aspirations, promoting ambition, re-engaging in education, closing gaps in academic performance and ultimately reintegrating back to mainstream education. The Hub Coordinator will build and maintain excellent relationships with students as well as parents, carers and third party agencies, in order to put students first and increase their chances of success in and beyond the centre.
Working Pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time plus 5 PD days.
Welcome from the Principal
Outwood Alternative Provision Eston is a unique centre providing a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable students who exhibit challenging behaviours and are at risk of exclusion. We are a dedicated staff body, passionate about providing bespoke, additional support to every student; ensuring their behavioural, social, emotional, or mental health challenges are not a barrier to success. With smaller class sizes, and an adapted curriculum that supports the needs of our students, we prioritise personal development and student well-being without compromising academic progress. We have unconditional positive regard for our students and consider strong, professional relationships as our first intervention. Our behaviour approach promotes telling the truth, taking responsibility, acknowledging harm and being accountable. Our goal is to ensure that all students can succeed and transition to the next stage of their education with confidence and self-belief. If, like us, you believe every student deserves a champion, and you share The Outwood vision of raising standards and transforming lives, we would be delighted to welcome you to our team.
Responsibilities
As a Hub Coordinator, you must have the ability to work with students and have a real interest in the issues faced by the students. You will monitor and support all students in the cohort, both academically and behaviourally. You will work closely with the Leadership Team on improving student behaviour, attendance and outcomes. Day to day, you will work with students to help them to be the best they can be.
The successful candidate needs to be extremely well organised, IT literate and have excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Applicants should have experience of working in a school environment and have a suitable level of knowledge around the issues affecting young people in the local communities.
Qualifications
Candidates must have experience working within a school environment and possess knowledge of issues affecting students and young people, including how to offer supportive assistance. Essential skills include the ability to communicate effectively with a broad audience, respect confidentiality, and utilise standard ICT packages.
Excellent time management and organisation skills are vital, along with the ability to relate to students sympathetically and recognise potential child safeguarding issues. A Level 3 relevant qualification, or equivalent in Education or Childcare, is desirable. A satisfactory DBS check is required.

Outwood Alternative Provision Eston is an innovative alternative provision centre, principally for students from Outwood Academies in the Northern Region who need additional behavioural, social, emotional or mental health support. In line with our absolute commitment to inclusion in its widest sense, this is an alternative provision for vulnerable students who display challenging behaviours and are often at risk of high levels of fixed-period exclusions or permanent exclusion.
Operating much smaller classes than our mainstream academies, this alternative provision focuses on personal development and the health and well being of students, whilst not losing academic rigour. We will focus on ensuring that all students can achieve well and are able to move to their next stage with confidence, be it education, employment or training.
