The Gatwick School is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Human Resources Assistant to join our team. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly improving all through school. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive and effective HR administration to ensure matters are managed appropriately and in accordance with school procedures. Promoting the school as a top employer will also be an important part of your role.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and outstanding admin or HR professional.


Working hours:

The working hours are 32.5 hours per week (working pattern can be negotiated - could be 08:00-15:00 Monday to Friday), for term time plus 3 weeks during the holidays. Holiday hours are to be discussed and agreed, and could include elements of working from home.


The role: 

  • To administer the HR procedures from recruitment to induction.
  • To ensure all required pre-employment checks have been completed prior to staff employment.
  • To provide HR administration support to line managers, to enable them to create high performing teams.
  • Ensure all school management information systems relating to staff are accurate, maintained in a timely manner and kept confidential.
  • Monitor and oversee the staff absence tracking, supporting line managers to effectively manage absences
  • Maintain and update the school’s single central record.
  • Maintain, update and develop the human resources elements of the school website 
  • Develop links with other organisations and networks, to provide opportunities for staff personal development.
  • To promote the school as a top employer to recruit and retain talented staff.


We are looking for individuals who have: 

  • Proven HR administrative experience
  • Strong organisational skills, effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience of working in a fast paced office environment
  • Are confident in promoting the importance of procedure adherence
  • Can quickly build effective working relationships with all stakeholders 
  • Are able to use initiative, be decisive and can communicate professionally with confidence
  • Are highly computer literate, with strong capability in email, MS Office and management information systems

Opened in 2014, and judged 'Good' by Ofsted in all areas.  The Gatwick School is a state-funded all-through school based in Crawley, West Sussex. Teaching children aged 4-16, the school is non-denominational and mixed gender. Located on Gatwick Road, it is less than a mile from the international airport of the same name.

The school can be accessed on public transport by the Metrobus network, with the Gatwick Road North bus stop situated outside the school. The Gatwick School has a breakfast club and runs OASIS clubs at the end of the day for after-school intellectual stimulation.
