Pleckgate High School is celebrating another rapid increase in the progress made by students, with an impressive Progress 8 score of +0.4 placing us in the top 18% of schools nationally. An impressive 52% of students achieved at least a grade 5 in maths and English, significantly above national average. Our students achieved 28 grade 9’s across these two subjects, demonstrating success at the very highest level.

We are seeking an outstanding Humanities teacher to support our educational aims who has the vision, drive and interpersonal skills to motivate our students. You must be able to teach History and Geography to KS3 and History or Geography to KS4. You will benefit from strong and supportive leadership, effective support by colleagues and being part of an ethos that strives to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.

We are looking for someone who is:

  •  A well-qualified teacher educated to degree level in History or Geography
  •  Passionate and knowledgeable about the teaching and learning of humanities subjects
  • Committed to outstanding teaching and learning practices
  • Able to think creatively with an excellent understanding of developments in education and History or Geography, specifically the new 9-1 GCSE syllabus
  • Able to engage, motivate and inspire students
  • Enthusiastic and visionary with regard to curriculum implementation and extra-curricular opportunities
  • A successful practitioner with a track record of high expectations and successful outcomes who is committed to their professional development.

We are a large secondary school, part  of the Education Partnership Trust (EPT), situated on the northern outskirts of Blackburn.  Our school community is made up of 1350 students and 180 staff with excellent facilities to benefit both the school and local community.  Pleckgate High School is a thriving multicultural community that places the best interests of young people at the heart of everything we do.
